Quetta, Balochistan — May 21, 2025:
In a tragic and horrifying incident, a suicide bomber targeted a school bus in Balochistan, Pakistan on Wednesday, killing at least five people, including schoolchildren and the bus driver. The deadly explosion took place near the Chaman area, close to the Afghan border, a region often plagued by militant violence.

According to initial reports from local authorities, the attacker rammed a motorcycle laden with explosives into the bus carrying students to school. The blast was so powerful that it destroyed the vehicle and injured several others in the vicinity. Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene immediately after the explosion.

Deputy Commissioner Chaman, Raja Atthar Abbas, confirmed the fatalities and said an investigation is underway to determine the identity of the bomber and the group behind the attack. “It was a targeted act of terrorism designed to create fear and disrupt peace in the region,” he said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but Balochistan has long witnessed insurgent activity from separatist groups and Islamist militants. The province, rich in natural resources, has become a flashpoint for attacks on civilians, security forces, and infrastructure projects.

Security on High Alert in Balochistan

Following the bombing, security forces have been put on high alert across Balochistan, especially in and around educational institutions. Provincial Home Minister Mir Zia Langove condemned the attack and vowed that the culprits would be brought to justice. “Targeting innocent children is an unforgivable crime,” he stated in a press conference.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep sorrow and directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured. He further stressed the need to strengthen intelligence-based operations to prevent future attacks.

Public Outcry and Calls for Justice

The incident has sparked widespread grief and anger across Pakistan, especially on social media, where citizens are demanding increased protection for children and educational institutions. #BalochistanAttack and #JusticeForStudents began trending within hours.

Human rights organizations have also condemned the attack, calling it a gross violation of international law and urging the government to prioritize the safety of civilians in conflict-prone areas.

Background: Violence in Balochistan

Balochistan has seen a surge in violence over recent months, with several attacks targeting security personnel, Chinese workers, and now, innocent schoolchildren. Experts believe that regional instability and external interference continue to fuel such extremist acts.

Conclusion

This heinous suicide attack on a school bus in Balochistan has once again raised serious questions about Pakistan’s internal security, especially in volatile regions. As the nation mourns the loss of young lives, the demand for peace and accountability grows louder.
